This project consisted of over 2 miles of four-lane concrete parkway (arterial street section) adjacent to the Sand Creek waterway along the perimeter of the Fitzsimons Medical Campus (a former U.S. Army hospital) in Aurora, Colorado. The work included mass earthwork operations and the remediation of four landfills along the right-of-way excavating approximately 450,000 cubic yards of soil. Numerous utility relocations and close coordination with publicly and privately owned utility companies was required.

Other major elements of the project included:

  • detached sidewalks and turn lanes
  • landscaped medians
  • eight intersection
  • four signalized intersections
  • full depth asphaltic concrete roadway section
  • full depth concrete roadway section (for the main arterial street)
  • inlets and laterals
  • 10,225 lineal feet of RCP storm sewer
  • 11,800 lineal feet of water transmission line
